My thoughts on movie genres:
First I want to say I prefer Gonzo over any other type of movie, they just suit me best, but I do like features and such for a change of pace. However, with that said, I rate according to what the movie is and then apply my likes. I can't apply my Gonzo likes to a Feature, and visa versa of course. With that said Features get a little more leniency because the sex is typically more vanilla for my tastes and the sex scenes are typically shorter as well. I also like to reward some extra points for the movie's story and/or plot.
Added 01.25.06 - After thinking about how I rate features, I will no longer give individual scene scores in those movies. I will still comment on the scene as far as good, bad or what ever, but I want to have the final score reflect the over all movie, not just the sex. Sex is only half of a feature. So from 01.25.06 out, this is effective.
My thoughts on DVD extras:
Now extras are something I like to reward a movie for, I think the days of VHS are gone, but to solidify that I like to see extras on DVDs - simply because they are rarely (if ever) available on the VHS release. However, if the extras are on the short/shallow side, they will get little to nothing added to the movie (+0 or +.25), and on top of that I DO NOT consider photo galleries, web access information and cum shot recaps to be "real" extras. Most of the time the photos are from the movie, as are the cum shot recaps, so they are not really "extra" anything - just a quick revisit to the movie you just watched! A movie with just a photo gallery and some trailers almost always loses points from me (-.25) - but something is better than nothing, but if there are no extras I typically take off .50 (-.50) from the over all score. So the things I rate on are behind the scenes, bonus scenes and any extra footage. Please note that amateur and pro-amateur are excluded on the extras deal. But if they do have them they typically get a more lenient score due to the fact they have a smaller budget.
How I rate:
Now at times I have been question on reviews due to the score of a scene. Let me explain my scoring. First I like to give a scene a basic rating from the beginning of a 5, assuming it will be an average scene - and that being OK camera work, OK lighting, OK action, OK female looks and OK enthusiasm. After that the rating either grows or shrinks, and a good example of that is scene 5 from 'Extreme Teen #37'. Heather's scene came off hot right from the beginning and see seemed into the sex, a little rough I know, but regardless. However as soon as she shoved her fist down her throat and vomited at the end of the scene, the scene's score plunged from a around a 9 to measly 3.

In addition to all that, I also try to give companies with less of a budget a little more leeway as well. I can't expect an amateur company to be able to compete with the technical aspects of a RLD/PXP and the like - it's just HIGHLY unlikely they have the cash to score high end cameras, lighting guys and so on.
